Na Pali Coast Excursion with Captain Andy's

The Na Pali coast is "Nature at its best". Secret coves, untouched beaches, inviting waterfalls, jagged cliffs and stunning landscapes, to name a few. 

Na Pali coast is only accessible by Boat and Helicopters. Tour companies offer catamaran rides with snorkeling or dinner with sunset. Others offer raft rides with snorkel and island landings. 

Alternatively, try the helicopter tours.

Boat Tours are usually expensive, costing approximately $200+ per person. Helicopters are even more expensive. 

The swell is usually very high and the water is rough until after May. Catamarans are usually more stable option than rafts. If you have motion sickness, be prepared with meds.

What are the Marine wildlife, we could encounter during tour?

Definitely dolphins, plants, algae, sea turtles, If you get lucky we could find Humpback Whales, Sharks, colorful fishes

Does Capt Andy's provide tour during Sept to Jan?

Yes, But they keep changing the schedule if weather is not favorable. Call them @ 808 335 6833 before book the tour

What is included in Captain Andy’s tour? 

1. Snorkel gear

2. Life jacket for snorkeling

3. Life guards

4. Fresh Snacks and Fresh food (if you cannot eat  because of motion sickness then they will pack your food so you can have it after landing

5. Inside the boat, it is not recommended to wear shoes. They will offer you  a place in a Shoerack to keep your shoes before boarding. 

Dos

1. Consider your situation and choose Rafting or catamaran. 

• Rafting is good for someone loves adventure and do well with choppy sea and motion sickness. Rafting will take you inside the caves, and do island landings, if weather permits.

• Catamaran is favorite with kids and who has motion sickness. However Catamaran always stays 40 to 50 feet away from coast. 

Decide your activity and book the ride in advance. If you change your mind you can cancel. SO check with them the cancelation policy. I may change time to time. 

 2. Choose between morning snorkeling Vs sunset and dinner tour

3. Make sure you carry your motion sickness meds with you because crew will administer any meds, even if they have it.

Donts

1. If you have small kids then rafting may not be a good idea.

2. If you have motion sickness,  then sit inside the catamaran rather sit out in fresh air.

3. If you are not an Ok/Good swimmer, you may not choose to snorkel, because there is an underlying ocean current, when snorkeling in Napoli coast

What you should carry with you

1. Towels

2. Extra clothes

3. Flip flops if you want  do not want to be on bare feet on the boat.

4. Sunscreen

5. Sunglasses 

6. Hat

7. Camera

8. Binocular, if you are interested to watch wildlife from distance. You can see dolphins, mink seals, sharks, whales, etc. You see whales during migration and winters.

Cancelation or change request  policy may change from time to time.

What are the other options to see NaPali coast?

Apart from boat tour you can find 2 other options

Option #1 Helicopter tour

It is a good way to see the Napali coast within short span of time. However, it is most expensive option.  If you are very adventurous, then you can look for door off Helicopter Tour.  Helicopter takes off near the Lihue airport.

Option #2  Kalalau trails

This is the cheapest option to see the Napali coast however, it is a very challenging and difficult trail to do.

To hike 11 miles trails you need permit. Get more info from https://dlnr.hawaii.gov/dsp/

Most people go the first 2 miles and round trip will be 4 miles. Around half day trip. You need additional permits ( camping permits) to go past the 2 miles of the trails. 

Please check the weather and trail condition specially if there is rain then there might be flash flood warning too. Carry a lots of water and water filtration systems. Make sure you are bring back all your garbage with you.
